Accounting Manager

Location : Duluth, GA, USA
Field: Finance and Controlling

Position requires hands-on management of finance & accounting activities with a background or current knowledge of purchasing for Allen Precision Equipment (APE), along with various other financial responsibilities. It is planned that the position will expand based upon the qualifications of the position holder.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • The responsibilities for APE will be very hands-on and the position will be based in APE’s Duluth office.
  • Act as the custodian for the general ledger, including all monthly activity and the maintenance of master files such as chart of accounts, profit and cost centers, and report generators.
  • Timely upload of financial data into consolidation including monthly management reports, treasury reports, and the year-end reporting package.
  • Review monthly financial results. Identify and investigate anomalies in the results.
  • Takes lead in preparation of annual budget.
  • Review and approve FAAR's (Fixed Asset Acquisition Requisition) in accordance with the budget limit and the authorization policies.
  • Review and determine proper costing of inventories. Co-ordinate physical inventory counts.
  • Review, monitor and update as necessary internal control mechanisms to safeguard the company's assets.
  • Direct credit and collection activities and effectively manage credit risk through establishment of appropriate credit limit, monitoring and analysis of account aging data and initiation of collection procedures.
  • Maximizes cash flow of the company through planning and proper forecasting of collection and disbursements.
  • Administer corporate insurance plan and manage claims that arise. Liaison with insurance broker as per policies set by corporate office. Assure sufficient insurance coverage.
  • Provide necessary income tax filing information as required by PricewaterhouseCoopers and/or LGS Inc. Controller.
  • Supervise sales tax filings and coordinates sales tax audits.
  • Authorized signatory.
  • Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
  • Prepares and facilitates quarterly inventories and monthly cycle counts with Warehouse Manager
  • Maximizing purchasing power with current and alternative vendors
  • Facilitates vendor returns for credit or replacement products
  • Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
  • Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.
  • Other reasonable duties and projects as may be required in a financing and controlling capacity.
  • Supervise a staff of one including: conducting performance reviews, assigning duties, training and scheduling.


  • Bachelor’s degree. in Accounting/Finance, CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) helpful but not required. Minimum of four years’ experience is necessary.
  • Proven ability to work independently and complete duties with limited supervision.
  • Previous experience with Supply Management, Vendor Relationships and Customer Service would be an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel. Continuous daily use on APE’s “Anita” accounting system is required.

Software Sales Representative

Location : Duluth, GA, USA
Field: Sales Management

Allen Precision Equipment (APE) is an industry leader providing our customers with one of the largest and best variety of surveying and construction products. We have an opportunity for a Sales Professional to focus on selling office and field survey software solutions using telemarketing, direct marketing and internet marketing tactics. This position will be based in our office in Duluth, GA

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  •  Target specific customers via phone, direct mail, and internet campaigns.
  • Leverage the APE brand and customer relationships to increase sales and brand awareness with office and field software in the US.
  • Meet sales targets
  • Host and develop Software sales events such as Webinars and On-line demos
  • Assist with the development of an office and field software campaign
  • Work with marketing to develop Software and Hardware promotions for APE marketing online and print ads


  • Associates Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in the application of Survey Software - both Desktop and Field Software (preferred Micro Survey and/or Carlson Software)
  • Prior experience selling Software solutions; one year minimum
  • Cold Calling ability a must for this position
  • Knowledge of office and field survey software
  • Strong planning and organizing skills
