Show Floor Review: How Do Coatings Installers Use the Leica DISTO E7500i?

What are the primary benefits of using a Leica DISTO E7500i instead of a tape measure? A professional coatings installer at World of Concrete shares his thoughts after seeing a demo of the Leica DISTO E7500i laser distance meter. Watch this video to learn more.

Speaker 1:       Okay, so what do you in life?

Speaker 2:       I’m a coatings installer.

Speaker 1:       Do you use laser measurers in the course of your business?

Speaker 2:       I do.

Speaker 1:       Let’s talk about what you’ve learned here today.

Speaker 2:       The thing it has showed me is the feature that I’ve looked at in many units—to measure two points that are not vertical, or that are vertical but they’re not straight up, so that I can take a point at one place on the wall and another place on that same structure higher up and it will tell me the distance between the two.

Speaker 1:       A lot of people look at lasers and they go, “Eh, I don’t know. It costs some money and I could still use a tape. I don’t know. Should I get into one of these?” What do you tell people who haven’t used lasers yet?

Speaker 2:       I’ve used these for several years. Primarily … you could take a distance either from some roof height or a distance from me to that structure. It’ll calculate those. It’ll add them if I’m trying to figure out circumference. In this case, the usefulness of this item is to find two points that I can’t measure with the tape. I can’t get up there with a tape. I can’t get to the full height and then subtract the distance. This unit appears to do what I’ve wanted to do for years and [have been] unable to find a unit that will give it to me.
