Spectra Precision’s newest technology, the SP80 GNSS receiver, is out in the field and getting a lot of attention. It can be used as an RTK network rover, an RTK base and rover, and also for post-processing.
“This is a great receiver for all kinds of projects – topographic, construction staking and much more,” said John Phillips, APE’s technical support manager.
The next generation Spectra Precision SP80 GNSS receiver offers the highest possible levels of RTK performance. Its exclusive Z-Blade processing technology fully utilizes all six GNSS systems including GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS and SBAS.
The SP80 includes an internal two-watt radio and a 3.5G cellular modem that allows you to connect to the Internet for GPS connections.
“You don’t need an external modem, which keeps you from otherwise needing a Mifi or hotspot,” said Phillips. “Having a two-watt radio also gives you a longer operating range.”
If the base gets disturbed for any reason, the SP80 sends a text message or e-mail alert to your cell phone, immediately letting you know.
Anti-theft technology detects if the unit is moved or stolen. This technology enables you to lock the device, making it unusable if it is moved, and a text or e-mail is sent to your mobile phone or computer providing the receiver’s current coordinates so you can track its position.
Dual hot-swappable batteries provide an interruption-free workday and the unit’s rugged and waterproof design can handle the toughest outdoor conditions.
